Fighting

Fighting-You have to fight for something. Fighting just for the sake of fighting doesn’t get you anywhere.Fighting for your life, fighting to protect your family or the innocent, these are things worth fighting for. They are also fights that you can’t afford to lose.

Recipe for successful fighting- Fight smart, fight to your strengths, be aware of your weaknesses and fight away from them or cover them.

Fighting Smart- You should always have a plan.

Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. " They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)

This is a great verse. As one of God's children it comforts me to know that He has a plan for me. It makes me happy to know that I have a future and hope.
Unfortunately, I think, a lot of people misinterpret this verse. Here is what I understand from reading this.
1. I have a future- that future is in Heaven with the Father.

The Bible and the Gospel

Many people have asked "If all I need to do to get to Heaven is believe in Jesus, why is the Bible so long?"
My answer- the Gospel. The Gospel of Christ is given many times in the Bible. If you go through the New Testament, it is told over and over again. One thing I have learned, and now pass on is that when God repeats Himself in the Word, it is like He is knocking on your head and saying "Hello! You really need to understand this!"
Not only is the Gospel repeated many times, the entire Bible IS the Gospel.

Keep My Commands

Matthew 28:16-20, Matthew 24:9-14 Revelation 7:9-10, John 14:15, John 14:21, 1John 2:3, Esther 4:14

Today I am talking about keeping Jesus' commands and how our choice to do so can change our future on this world in our eternal future.
In Matt. 28:16-20, we have what is referred to as the "Great Commission". This is where Jesus is sending out His disciples into the world to make disciples of all nations. Sadly, a lot of times this is the only part of this passage we hear, but it has so much more.

Why didn't they see Him?

The Didn't See Him Because They Were Not Looking

Why is it that the Jewish leaders, priests, and, people didn't see Jesus when He came? They simply were not looking. Oh all the people in that time, they should have been the ones to see Jesus. They new the prophesies. They knew what the Old Testament said. They even new where he was going to be born, as it was foretold centuries before.
The Wise Men were led by the Star to Jesus. The Shepherds were led to Jesus by the Angels.

Who Are You?

Who are you?

"Who are you?" is one of the most important questions that can be asked, and you need to know the answer. There is a very simple process to figuring this out. It is just another series of questions. Since this is a Christian Martial Arts site, we will use that for our example.
As a Martial Artists-
1. Who do you say you are?
A student, a beginner, Black Belt, Grand Master? Be honest, you will find out why later.
2. Who do your friends say you are?

The Christian and the Ministry

The Christian and the Ministry

There comes a point in every Christians walk when they get called into some type of Ministry. It is part of the growing process. When someone becomes a new Christian, they are spoon fed the Gospel. It is given to them in a way that they can understand it and growing their relationship with Christ. There comes a time when you are supposed to take off the bib and put on an apron.

Fishing with Jesus

There is a passage in the Bible that tells about the disciples fishing. They had been out fishing for a long time with no luck. Discouraged, they headed for shore. Jesus stops them and tells them, "Go back out and cast the nets on the other side of the boat."
This is exactly what the disciples didn't want to hear. "We have been fishing for hours and have caught nothing, we are tired and need rest."
Jesus reissued His command, and obediently (and somewhat reluctantly), they went back out and did what Jesus said.

Peer Pressure

Peer Pressure

The hardest part about peer pressure comes right from its name. The word “pressure” in this context influence or urging, temptation to do something that a person wouldn’t ordinarily do. The hard part comes from the word “peer”. A peer is a friend, someone that you have things in common with.
Now that you understand what peer pressure is, what can you do about it when it happens? The answer to this question is a hard one for most people, but it is the correct answer from Scripture.
