How Important is a Name?

Matthew 1:21- "She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins."

What is your name? Do you know what your name means? When you parents found out that they were going to have a baby, they spent a good bit of time considering what to name you.
There are many books available with lists of baby names and their meanings. It's possible that your parents may have used one of these books to decide on what to name you.
Here are a couple-
Sophia-wisdom
Daniel (Danielle)- God is my judge
John (Joanna)- God's gracious gift
Michael (Michelle)- one who is like God
When Joseph and Mary found out that they were going to have a baby, they didn't have to decide on a name. God sent an Angel to tell them why He was coming and what to name Him. The name "Jesus" means "the Lord Saves". John 3:16 says, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever Believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting Life." He sent His Son to die on the Cross, so that the penalty for OUR sins would be paid by the shedding of HIS Blood.
How important is His name? Acts 4:12 says "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other Name under Heaven given to men by which we must be Saved."
No other name can Save you, no other Sacrifice can be made. Jesus is the only way to Heaven.

Remember to thank God every day for Salvation through Jesus Christ.
